New Mailbox Approved
The Architectural Review Committee (ARC) met in the
beginning of the year to discuss ideas that could be implemented in the
community that would enhance the appearance of the community, as well as to
ensure that all aspects of the community appear to be consistent with the
ever-increasing value of our homes. One
of the items we thought was out of character for a neighborhood of 300K+ homes
was the mailbox that the builder provided.
They are small, cheap and many are not properly installed, or maintained. We’ve got a number of “leaners
and spinners” in the neighborhood.
Analysis
The ARC took a look at a number of possibilities,
everything from PVC structures, all the way up to custom stone/brickwork boxes. We agreed on a more substantial looking,
cast aluminum mailbox, with integrated numbers. The ARC evaluated several contractors and invited them to
submit proposals.
Contractor
The selected contractor is “Sign Kwik”. They are located at 4315 Abbott’s
Bridge Rd (near Peachtree Industrial). The
phone number is 770-623-1669. They
have switched out mailboxes in several subdivisions, including an 800 home
subdivision, which they are currently working on. The cost is $288.50/box, which includes removal and disposal
of old mailbox and installation, in concrete, of the new box. The contractor will warrantee their work
for 2 years. They are also offering
a $24 discount if you pay with cash. Please
see the attached flyer for details.
How it Works
Homeowners who wish to replace their current mailbox may do
so by either installing the same model that is currently installed, or the
approved alternate mailbox. The Westbury Board of Directors
(BOD) is requesting that the association upgrade their mailbox to the new box by
March 2005. To arrange for installation of the alternate mailbox,
please contact Sign Kwik directly.
